Shannon just celebrated her one year, SB Fitness-versary (sorry)
Out of curiosity we got out her original weigh-in/measurement details for a comparison. In one year, Shannon dropped 10kg (1.5 stone) and 3 dress sizes (seriously!) And has managed to keep it all off!
You might be wondering why we didn’t have them to hand o know them off at this stage and the answer really shouldn’t shock you!
We didn’t need them!
It’s been clear for pretty much the last year that Shannon has been moving in the right direction. The things that really matter were happening: Clothes fitting better, energy levels were higher and Shannon was absolutely excelling in the gym. Strength and fitness levels just kept on going and she’s surprise us every now and then banging out 17 full push ups nice and casual-like! Here’s Shannon’s own experience in the gym to give you a look into the AMAZING transformation she’s nailed in the last year!
Can you describe any reservations you had before joining SB Fitness?
Before joining, I had, what I know now, to be all of the usual reservations that go with something new such as: Would I fail? Would I actually be able for it? Would I look stupid?
What was your goal when you started?
My goal was to lose extra weight I’d gained and feel more comfortable in myself and my size while shopping for clothes – specifically the bridesmaid dress I’ll be wearing at my sisters wedding next year.
What are you proudest of so far in training?
I’m proud of what I can lift.. and that I actually enjoy doing it! Before starting at SB Fitness I never envisioned myself doing this, but now every time I lift a little more I get a huge sense of achievement from it!
What fears have you over come through training with us at SB Fitness?
I’ve learned no to let fear stop you from trying, or make you doubt your own ability. Don’t be afraid to push yourself – nobody will judge you for it, in fact, they’ll cheer you on
(Unless they’re assholes, but we don’t have any of those in SB Fitness :P)
Did you ever imagine you’d be where you are today?
I am amazed at how much my body has transformed over the last year. Not only in inches, but my level of fitness and the positive impact that it has had on my confidence in myself! I also never imagined I’d find something that I would stick with let alone enjoy pushing myself to progress in.
What advice would you give to someone looking to get started on a similar journey?
When I started at SB Fitness Sean advised me to keep it simple and set small achievable goals, and that’s what I did. ‘Go to the gym 3x a week was my goal.’ We took it from there. Give it a try. It’s simple but VERY effective!
How would you summarize your experience as a whole?
SB Fitness has a welcoming community vibe. Sean, Claire and all of the members have been friendly, helpful and supportive from the outset! It’s much more than just a gym with so many activities throughout the year (kayaking, hikes, yoga, nights out and the SB Fitness Games) there is a really fun, positive community spirit at SB Fitness that encourages you to keep coming back!
